Suhas at the Crossroads: A Make-or-Break Phase
Suhas is one of the rare talents who transitioned from YouTube videos to becoming a lead actor in Telugu cinema. He carved a niche for himself with his natural performances in supporting roles and gradually rose to become a promising lead hero. Initially, his film choices were fresh and unique, earning him both critical and audience appreciation. However, over time, his selection of scripts has turned routine and uninspiring, resulting in a streak of flops that now threaten his standing as a lead actor.
Suhas made a strong debut as a lead with Colour Photo in 2020. His heartfelt performance was widely praised, and the film even bagged the National Award for Best Telugu Feature Film. He followed it up with commendable performances in Family Drama, Writer Padmabhushan, and Ambajipeta Marriage Band, showing potential to become a bankable lead.
Unfortunately, the momentum didn’t last. Films like Prasanna Vadanam, Sreeranga Neethulu, Gorre Puranam, and Janaka Aithe Ganaka failed to click with the audience, casting a shadow over his rising graph. His most recent release, Uppu Kappurambu, which premiered directly on Amazon Prime Video, featured Suhas alongside Keerthy Suresh. Despite the impressive cast, the film failed to connect with viewers.
With hopes pinned on his latest theatrical release Oh Bhama Ayyo Rama, Suhas was aiming for a much-needed comeback. However, early responses suggest another setback, with critics and audiences expressing disappointment yet again.
Industry insiders now feel Suhas is at a crucial juncture in his career. Many believe that if he continues on this path, his journey as a lead actor could soon come to an end. It’s high time Suhas re-evaluates his script choices, aligns with strong storytellers, and reinvents himself with impactful roles that truly do justice to his talent.
