Actor-director Dhanush is back with his upcoming film Idli Kadai, a simple yet emotional story about a man running a small idly shop. The film is slated for release on October 1.
At the trailer launch event in Coimbatore, Dhanush revealed his personal connection to the role. “I always wanted to become a chef. I don’t know why I keep getting chef roles. Maybe because I truly wanted to cook, and that’s why such characters keep coming my way,” he said.
Interestingly, food-related roles have followed him throughout his career — from making parottas in Jagame Thandhiram, working as a delivery boy in Thiruchitrambalam, to running a fast-food shop in Raayan.
Dhanush also spoke about the power of manifestation in shaping his life and career. “When I write a script for myself, I end up with a chef role. Even when other directors approach me, I get similar characters. I think this is manifestation. What you think, you become. I believe youth should visualize their goals, trust in them, and work hard,” he emphasized.
Titled Idli Kottu in Telugu, the film stars Dhanush and Nithya Menen in lead roles. It is jointly produced by Wunderbar Films and Dawn Pictures, with music composed by GV Prakash.
