Actor Dheekshith Shetty kicked off his talk at The Girlfriend trailer launch with his trademark wit and warmth. When the host playfully quizzed him about his “type,” Dheekshith laughed it off, saying that was a conversation best saved for coffee — not the cameras. His easygoing banter set a friendly tone, making the event feel more like a chat among friends than a formal gathering.
Amused by the massive turnout, Dheekshith quipped that he hadn’t seen such a big crowd since Dasara, before crediting Rashmika Mandanna and Geetha Arts for drawing in the fans.
The lighthearted start soon gave way to something more heartfelt. Dheekshith revealed that The Girlfriend resonated with him deeply from the very first read. “It just stayed in my head,” he said, adding that the emotional weight of the story made him eager to be part of it. Calling his collaboration with director Rahul Ravindran a turning point, he described his character Vikram as “not easy to understand — but that’s what made it exciting.”
Giving audiences a glimpse of what to expect, Dheekshith said Vikram isn’t the typical hero: “You’ll love him, you’ll hate him, and maybe even see a bit of yourself in him.” Wrapping up with his trademark humor, he added, “The Girlfriend isn’t just about anger management — it’s about how to manage one.” The crowd erupted in laughter, clearly won over by his sincerity and charm.
The Girlfriend releases worldwide on November 7.
