Language has become a crucial factor in movie promotions, with actors from other states making efforts to speak at least a few words in the local dialect to avoid controversies and audience backlash.
Recent incidents have highlighted this sensitivity. Kantara actor Rishab faced severe trolling after speaking in Kannada during the pre-release event of his prequel in Hyderabad. He quickly adapted at the next event by speaking in Telugu, ending the controversy.
Following this trend, Tamil actor Dhruv Vikram ensured he would not face a similar situation while promoting his latest release Bison. Ahead of the film’s release in Telugu states, Dhruv interacted with the media in Hyderabad on Tuesday evening, delivering a speech in fluent Telugu with the help of a prepared script. He began by thanking the media and moviegoers and expressed gratitude to the Telugu audience for the love shown to his father, actor Vikram, over the years.
Dhruv shared a personal anecdote about shopping in Hyderabad, where fans and a shopkeeper admired his father’s acting skills. He promised to work hard to earn the love of the Telugu audience and expressed his eagerness to work in Telugu cinema.
Although this is Dhruv’s first promotion in Hyderabad, his efforts to engage the Telugu audience have received widespread appreciation. Unlike some actors from South states who rarely speak Telugu during promotions despite exploiting the market, Dhruv’s approach has been lauded as respectful and thoughtful.
Bison released in Tamil on October 17 and received mixed reviews, with the dubbed Telugu version scheduled to release on October 24.
