Dhruv Vikram’s Bison opens strong with positive reviews

Bison, starring Dhruv Vikram, marks his much-awaited return to Tamil cinema after his previous two films underperformed at the box office. Directed by Maari Selvaraj, the film released during Diwali in Tamil Nadu and has already opened to a positive response, with strong bookings despite facing competition from other releases.

The film tells a gripping story of struggle, dignity, and survival in a society suffocated by caste violence and oppression. Inspired by the life of Kabaddi player Manathi Ganesan, it follows Kittan (Dhruv Vikram), a young man trapped in an endless cycle of hostility and revenge in rural Tamil Nadu.

While Bison follows some familiar sports drama tropes, Maari Selvaraj adds depth by focusing on caste realities, emotional suffocation, and quiet acts of rebellion, giving the narrative both emotional weight and sociopolitical resonance. Dhruv Vikram delivers a measured performance that shines, particularly in the film’s later sequences.

Given the positive reception in Tamil Nadu, the film is expected to resonate with Telugu audiences as well when it releases in the Telugu states. Fans are eagerly watching to see if Dhruv can now match the stature of his father, adding another chapter to his cinematic journey.
