Did Trivikram Srinivas try to insult previous generation actors?

Trivkram Srinivas is an intelligent and well-educated man. He tries to stay away from controversies but yet times he gives a statement that triggers some undue attention.

At Bheemlanayak Thanks Meet he talked about how he tried to bridge the gap between director Sagar Chandra and Pawan Kalyan due to the young director’s fear in openly communicating his ideas with a big star like Pawan Kalyan.

He also talked about what made them do changes to Ayyapanum Koshiyum and claimed that unless they are willing to not be in love with the original film, which is a strong story, they cannot make ‘their film’.

Talking about supporting actors and young actors who worked in the film he said that the actors of this generation have far superior knowledge and they are ready to grasp, get into character much better than 80’s & 90’s actors.

He made the comment by apologising and clearly stating that this is his opinion and he didn’t meant it to hurt anyone. But on social media platforms, people who wait to trigger a controversy took offence to it.

They started slamming the director saying that he cannot disrespect legends. They are saying that 80’s and 90’s were different times and those actors did not have facilities, education, freedom like today’s generation do. So, it is unfair comparision.

While it is fair for you to have an opinion, it is also fair for the writer-director to have an opinion. He could state it on public platform and also for a man of his stature to make such a claim, means he did face problems or saw some kind of grave difference in the way today’s generation approach work from past.

We all love legends like ANR, NTR, SVR, Krishna, Sobhan Babu, Krishnam Raju, Jamuna, Savitri, Anjali Devi, Bhanumathi, Rajababu, Relangi and many others who started in 50’s and 60’s.

His statement is about those who started in 80’s and 90’s. So, he directed it at a generation that today is seniors but not at those legends. Please keep them aside. Not supporting him but let’s try to understand objectively.

80’s and 90’s supporting actors include latest senior comedians, TV artists, people who worked in majority of films after these legends. Now, do all of them pose same talent like Brahmanandam, Ali, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Dharmavarapu Subramanyam, Tanikella Bharani, LB Sriram, MS Narayana?

The above mentioned are legends. But what about others? Do all them have same knowledge to get into a character after reading the lines? Do all of them have same knowledge to read in-between the lines like the director opined?

The director said young generation actors are far more superior in preparation for the character than 80’s and 90’s actors. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t work or create magical moments. It just means that he felt this generation learnt better craft and that generation needs time to understand.

For a producer, director or writer, if someone understands lines and figures out how to deliver them upon reading and don’t need someone to explain it to them multiple times, then they feel like those actors are angels’ sent for them.

That will save time, money and energy for everyone while creating enthusiasm on sets to work faster and more efficiently as you know actors come prepared. You don’t have to nudge, push and try to prepare them, bare their ego all the time.

While the statement does include undue comparison between two generations, the practicality behind it cannot be ignored. Just try to understand from where one person is coming to that conclusion, before you slam him or her or them for everything they say on public platform. They can be wrong or right but we don’t know the entire situation.

Let’s try to respectful in disagreement too rather than making everything a controversy.
