Dil Raju Leads Tollywood Push for Permanent Ticket Hike GO in Telangana

Leading producer and distributor Dil Raju has revealed that senior members of the Telugu film industry are planning to meet Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy soon after his return from Davos to seek a permanent Government Order (GO) on movie ticket price hikes in the state.

“We are going to request the Chief Minister for a permanent GO on ticket hikes in Telangana,” Dil Raju said. “Our appeal is for a fixed and revised ticket rate for both big and small films on a long-term basis, instead of producers having to approach officials before every release and rushing through approvals.”

The move comes in the wake of recent directions issued by the Telangana High Court, which clearly stated that applications seeking ticket hikes or special permissions must be submitted at least 90 days prior to a film’s release. According to industry sources, this directive has significantly added to filmmakers’ concerns, especially since no such restriction exists in Andhra Pradesh, where permissions are routinely granted for all films.

The 90-day rule has emerged as a major hurdle for upcoming releases, as film release dates are often finalised barely a month in advance. Schedules frequently change due to post-production delays or to avoid box-office clashes, making compliance with the rule extremely challenging for producers.

Several big-budget and star-driven films are expected to be affected, starting with the much-hyped Peddi. Projects like Chiranjeevi’s Vishwambara, Pawan Kalyan’s Ustaad Bhagat Singh, Nani’s The Paradise, Naga Chaitanya’s Vrushakarma, Adivi Sesh’s Dacoit, Nikhil’s Swayambhu, Sharwanand’s Biker, Ravi Teja’s upcoming film, and Bellamkonda Sreenivas’ Tyson Naidu could all face difficulties in securing ticket hike permissions.

“It will definitely hurt big-ticket films releasing between March and May,” Dil Raju noted. He further added that an industry delegation is expected to meet the Chief Minister by the end of the month, expressing hope for a favourable and industry-friendly resolution.
