After delivering a blockbuster with Little Hearts, ETV Win and Bunny Vaas are now gearing up for their next release, Raju Weds Rambai, which hits theatres worldwide tomorrow (November 21). The film has generated decent buzz, particularly for its climax, and expectations are modest yet positive.
Amid this hype, director Saailu Kaampati made a bold — and now viral — challenge during the film’s pre-release event. He stated that if the movie receives negative feedback, he would run wearing only an underwear at Ameerpet junction. While urging people to watch the film, he requested them not to spread unnecessary negativity that might influence others. His confidence suggests he strongly believes the movie will be well-received.
These types of daring statements have become common among celebrities ahead of release, often used as a marketing tactic to draw attention amidst heavy competition. For a debut director, such confidence can be refreshing, and if the film succeeds, the industry benefits as well. It remains to be seen whether this bold declaration will translate into box-office footfalls.
The makers have also announced attractive ticket pricing: ₹99 for single screens and ₹105 for multiplexes. However, online ticketing platforms currently show multiplex tickets priced at ₹150, leading to some confusion. A clarification from the team is awaited. Regardless, the low-ticket strategy is expected to work in the film’s favour.
Additionally, a few paid premieres are being held tonight. If the early viewers respond positively, the film could see a strong opening day.
Raju Weds Rambai stars Akhil Uddemari and Tejaswi Rao in the lead roles, with Shivaji Raja and Chaitanya Jonnalagadda in key supporting parts. The project is produced by Venu Udugula and Rahul Mopidevi.
