Bengali actress Arya Banerjee who starred in numerous Bollywood films that includes popular film `The Dirty Picture’ was reported dead by police at her south Kolkata residence near Jodhpur Park on Friday.
After being incommunicado for a long time, out of suspicion the maid rang door bell and did phone calls incessantly in the morning. She didnt respond and hence the maid alerted the neighbours who then called the police.
Police barged in by unlocking the door of her third-floor apartment and noticed that her body was found lying in mysterious circumstances in the bedroom. However, the cause of death is yet to be known.
The 33 year old actress who is the youngest daughter of late sitarist Nikhil Bandyopadhyay, Arya had acted in LSD: Love Sex Aur Dhoka (2010) and other films apart from The Dirty Picture (2011). She had also done some modelling jobs for her livelihood in Mumbai. Her domestic help said she chose to be a alone most of the time.
The police intimated that the body was sent for post mortem assessment and a forensic team collected blood samples from her room to determine if it was a suicide or murder.
