Many South actors and filmmakers aspire to go to Bollywood which lures them with huge canvas, reach and market. But, only a few successful people can make it. There are some exceptional cases who, sans-success, still embark the Bollywood ladder through high-profile contacts in the industry.
Prakash Kovelamudi, son of veteran director K.Raghavendra Rao, and a director himself, is now gearing to make his directorial debut in Bollywood. Even though his filmography comprises duds like Anaganaga O Dheerudu and Size Zero, Prakash has managed to convince a top producer and two stars to be part of his Bollywood debut film.
National Award winning actors and the most happening stars in Bollywood, Kangana Ranaut and Raj Kumar Rao have reportedly signed Prakash’s film. Prolific producer, Ekta Kapoor will bankroll this film, which is being touted as a psychological thriller. Prakash’s wife, Kanika Dhillon wrote the film that will go on floors next month.
Reports emerged some time ago that Prakash’s next Telugu film after ‘Size Zero’ would be a high-budget fantasy drama and that ‘Baahubali’ producers would bankroll it. Sharwanand was supposed to play the lead role. The project however has been scrapped after months of discussions, reportedly because of budget issues.
It needs to be seen if the son of legendary Raghavendra Rao can taste success at least in Bollywood.
