Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit to Andhra Pradesh continued on Sunday. The FM made a surprise inspection at the ration depot in Tallapalem village of Visakhapatnam district. She inquired about the supply of free rice and essential commodities under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana scheme.
Nirmala Sitharaman made it clear that the free ration rice should be given in the name of the centre only. The FM clarified that the state government should not interfere in this.
Sitharaman has clarified that every ration depot should have a photo of Narendra Modi during the distribution of free rice provided by PMGKAY. “As part of the ‘National Food Security Mission’, rations should be distributed to beneficiaries at public distribution outlets only,” she said.
Beneficiaries were then asked if they knew who was offering the free rice. In the absence of a clear answer from them, she called the local MLA Gudivada Amarnath and asked him to inform the beneficiaries about the providers. The latest Union Minister comments have now become a hot topic in the AP.
