Dowry Case Against Sankaranna�s Family

Congress senior leader and former minister is fond of making wild charges against others. He even charged the Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy and his brothers of smuggling red sanders and threatened to file a suit against him.

After the Green Fields land scam in which he was arrested, Sankar is now facing a problem from his own household.

Sankar�s daughter-in-law Vishnu Priya filed a petition in the high court, charging him of harassing her for dowry. She said though she had complained to the CCS police, they had not taken any action and urged the court to direct the police to arrest him.

Responding to the petition, the high court has on Wednesday issued notices to Sankar Rao, his son Sasank, DGP and the Central Crime Station women wing.

Vishnu Priya also alleged that Sanar Rao, her husband Sasank, mother-in-law Viswa Santi and Sankar Rao’s daughter Susmita were harrassing for dowry and asked that all of them be arrested. She said in her petition that the criminal court had earlier directed them to surrender and give the passports to the police and they had not complied with the direction. She said even the police had not acted on the court’s orders. She said the harrassment started after Sankar Rao’s daughter came back home.

It may be recalled that when the police tried to arrest him in the Green Field scam, he complained of heart problem and had to be rushed from police station to hospital. Later the court gave him anticipatory bail and asked him to surrender before the police. Through this process, the former minister managed to remain outside. But in cases of domestic violence, he would not be shown such considerations, say legal sources. It is being said that if the court considers this to be a case of domestic violence, Sankar would be arrested.
