‘Brahmastra’ was a film which released in the middle of heavy criticism and boycott campaigns. Many said that the trailer was not up to the expected level and the graphics were too artificial. Many speculated the film to not get good openings and trolled it heavily. But the aggressive promotions of the team made the film get tremendous openings. ‘Brahmastra’ got 75 crores on the first day of its release.
The movie opened to packed houses and the collection by the end of its first week was 225 crores. It earned a gross of over 70 crores in its first three days which is a huge achievement considering the state of Bollywood films at the moment. At a time when big names like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Aamir Khan, Ranveer Singh and others have failed to bring audiences to the theatres. Ranbir Kapoor and the stellar star cast succeeded in doing it despite the mixed reviews.
Many felt that the film would continue its successful run. Considering the budget involved, ‘Brahmastra’ needed to get good collections for at least another week or two. But that is not the case at the moment as the collections witnessed a sixty percent dip on Monday. It had a drastic fall on Tuesday too and trade pundits reveal that it managed to get only 25 crores gross in two days.
Though the first weekend’s collections were fantastic, the movie managed to recover only 40% of its investment and with the continuous drop in collections, ‘Brahmastra’ may soon end as a big disaster despite a grand opening. Ranbir and Alia Bhatt are the hero and heroine in this project while Big B Amitabh Bachchan, King Nagarjuna, Mouni Roy and others played key roles. Bollywood Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan gave a special appearance in this high-budget supernatural drama.
Produced jointly by Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus and Star Light Pictures, this grand project is an adventure film with a lot of supernatural elements inspired by the Hindu gods. ‘Baahubali’ and ‘RRR’ director SS Rajamouli presented this film in South India.

Avatar: Fire and Ash Opens to ₹20 Cr in India Amid Dhurandhar Competition
December 20, 2025

James Cameron’s much-anticipated magnum opus, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has wrapped up its opening day at the Indian box office with a respectable start, though stiff competition from Dhurandhar has clearly impacted its performance.
As expected, the film opened to nearly half the Day 1 collections of its predecessor, Avatar: The Way of Water. Meanwhile, Dhurandhar continues to exceed expectations and dominate ticket windows even in its third week of release.
With exhibitors strongly backing the Ranveer Singh–starrer, Dhurandhar has managed to secure an impressive number of screens nationwide. This, in turn, limited the showcasing of Avatar: Fire and Ash, which typically enjoys massive screen presence given the strength of the Avatar franchise. While the film did receive a wide release across India, the screen count fell short of expectations for a brand of this scale.
Beyond screen allocation, Dhurandhar has also captured significant audience attention, further diluting ground-level hype for Avatar: Fire and Ash. That said, the film still drew a loyal fan base, particularly in premium formats such as IMAX and 4DX, which helped boost collections.
According to early estimates, Avatar: Fire and Ash collected approximately ₹20–21 crore net on Day 1 in India. Crossing the ₹20 crore mark is a solid opening for a Hollywood film in the Indian market. However, when compared to the benchmark set by the previous installment, the numbers may be viewed as a cause for concern for the makers.
Apart from competition, the film also appears to be facing signs of franchise fatigue. A section of the audience feels that, beyond its breathtaking visuals, the Avatar series may not be offering enough novelty, which seems to have tempered excitement this time around.
The real test now lies in the weekend performance. Whether Avatar: Fire and Ash can overcome these challenges and post a strong upward trend over the next few days remains to be seen.
