Draupathi 2: Richard Rishi’s Epic Historical Sequel

Following the massive success of the 2020 Tamil hit Draupathi, popular actor Richard Rishi is back with the much-anticipated sequel, Draupathi 2. Produced on a grand scale by Netaji Productions in association with Chola Chakravarthy and G.M. Film Corporation, the film is directed by Mohan G., known for his work in Pazhaya Vannarapettai, Draupathi, Rudra Thandavam, and Bagasuran.

On the occasion of Sri Vinayaka Chavithi, the makers unveiled the first-look poster, generating excitement for the film’s upcoming theatrical release in both Tamil and Telugu. Set in the 14th century, the story revolves around the blood-stained reign of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III, who ruled South India with Thiruvannamalai as his capital, and the valor of the Kadavarayas of Sendhamangalam. The plot unfolds amidst the Mughal invasion of Tamil Nadu, promising a gripping historical action drama.

Around 75% of the film was shot extensively in Mumbai, with key sequences filmed in Senji, Thiruvannamalai, and Kerala. The sequel continues the epic narrative from the first film, making it a highly awaited addition to the Draupathi franchise. Talented actress Rakshana Indusudan plays the female lead, while the ensemble cast includes Natti Natraj, Y. G. Mahendran, Nadodigal Barani, Saravana Subbiah, Vel Ramamoorthy, Siraj Johnny, Dinesh Lamba, Ganesh Gaurang, Divi, Devayani Sharma, and Arunodayan in pivotal roles.

The dialogues are penned by Padma Chandrasekhar, with music composed by Mohan G. Ghibran. Cinematography is handled by Philip R. Sundar, editing by Devaraj, and art direction by Kamalnathan. Choreography is by Thanika Tony, and action sequences are coordinated by Action Santosh.

Draupathi 2 promises an epic tale of valor, sacrifice, and history, bringing to life the saga of Hoysala emperor Veera Vallalar III and the Kadavarayar kings of Senthamangalam. The film is set to hit theatres in Tamil and Telugu soon.
