With the New Year celebrations are fast approaching, Cyberabad Police Commissioner Vishwanath Channappa Sajjanar called for a crucial press briefing today in Hyderabad.
Addressing the press, the CP said, they are dealing drunk and drive issue with an iron fist and those who were caught driving after taking alcohol will be sent to jail for 10 years.
Adding further, he said a drunk and drive program will be conducted for a week in the Cyberabad area limits as the New Year is coming and cases will be filed against people who are caught drunk driving.
Those who drunk drive are like terrorists. They will not be spared. To catch drunk drivers we will conduct a dunk and drive program, CP Sajjanar said.
He said the state government has issued orders stating that New Year Celebrations will not be permitted. Those who violate the orders will not be spared, cases will be filed against them.
Those who were caught for the first time in the Drunk and Drive program for the first time will be slapped with a fine of Rs 10,000 along with jail imprisonment for six months. Their license will be canceled for three months.
If caught for the second time, the riders will be sent to jail for two years and a penalty of Rs 15,000 will be imposed. Their driving license of the drivers will be canceled permanently.
