Dude, the latest film from Pradeep Ranganathan, known for hits like Love Today and Dragon, has made an impressive start at the box office. Written and directed by Keerthiswaran, the film released on Friday and immediately caught the audience’s attention.

On its opening day, Dude sold nearly 17,000 tickets per hour on Book My Show, one of India’s leading ticketing platforms. With the weekend and Diwali festival ahead, ticket sales are expected to grow even further, signaling strong audience interest. This opening outpaced the peak hourly ticket sales of several major releases this year, including Ajith Kumar’s Vidaa Muyarchi (15,370 tickets/hour), Dhanush’s Idli Kadai (~14,000 tickets/hour), Vijay Sethupathi’s Thalaivan Thalaivii (12,500 tickets/hour), and even Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s ThugLife (12,000 tickets/hour).

These numbers indicate that audiences are increasingly valuing engaging content over mere star power. Dude features a music score by Sai Abhyankar and is produced by Mythri Movie Makers. With the festival season in full swing, the film is set to maintain its momentum and could emerge as one of the year’s biggest hits.
