Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan, who has been winning hearts in Tollywood with hits like Mahanati and Lucky Bhaskar, is reportedly in talks with Tamil director Prem Kumar for a high-profile bilingual project.
According to sources, “Prem Kumar, celebrated for his emotionally resonant films like 96 and Meiyazhagan, has crafted a moving drama and is currently discussing the project with Dulquer Salmaan. Dulquer, known for taking on experimental and diverse roles, has been impressed by Prem Kumar’s storytelling. If all goes well, the collaboration is expected to be finalized soon.”
Director Prem Kumar has carved a niche for himself with his distinct style. His acclaimed film 96, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha, explored the bittersweet theme of rekindled childhood love during a school reunion, with Sethupathi’s character opting to remain a bachelor. In Satyam Sundaram, featuring Arvind Swami and Karthi, Prem Kumar delivered another emotionally layered story: Arvind Swami returns to his village after two decades and meets a distant relative played by Karthi, whose infectious childlike innocence gradually melts his initial irritation, leading to a poignant bond tinged with nostalgia and regret.
Never one to rush productions, Prem Kumar meticulously crafts stories that explore complex human emotions, often leaving audiences deeply moved. His films reflect a unique sensibility, making him a filmmaker truly cut from a different cloth.
