Dulquer Salmaan is currently enjoying the most successful phase of his career, both as an actor and producer. Fresh off the blockbuster success of Lucky Bhaskar, which earned him critical acclaim, Dulquer further cemented his production credentials with Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra, one of Mollywood’s biggest hits this year.
Now, audiences eagerly await his next venture, the highly anticipated period drama Kaantha. The film, which had initially been slated for a September release, was postponed to accommodate the extended run of Kalyani Priyadarshan’s Lokah at the Kerala box office. The new release date has now been officially announced as November 14th.
In a teaser released on the eve of Diwali, the makers offered a glimpse into the film’s intense narrative. Dulquer Salmaan, alongside Bhagyashree Borse and Samuthirakani, delivers fierce and captivating expressions, set against a pulsating background score, leaving audiences intrigued and excited.
Directed by Selvaraj Selvamani, Kaantha explores the poignant relationship between a father and son, drawing inspiration from the life of legendary filmmaker Ayya. The film also boasts a technically strong team, with Dani Sanchez-Lopez handling cinematography and Jhanu Chanthar composing the music.
The makers have opted for a solo release, avoiding competition from other major films, though without the advantage of a festival release. Success at the box office will therefore hinge on strong critical reviews and positive word-of-mouth.
