Ec Declares Former Union Minister Disqualified From Running Polls For Three Years

Finding fault with the candidate, who has not submitted the details of the election expenses, the Election Commission had disqualified a former Union Minister from contesting elections of any level for the next three years.

The Election body declared former Union Minister Balaram Naik Porika disqualified from running the elections for three years on the grounds of not submitting the details of the election expenses.

In the Gazette notification, the Election Commission said that the former Union Minister didn’t submit the election expenses details and this is why he was declared disqualified from going to the polls for three years.

The disqualification applies across the country and he cannot run for the elections across the levels like-Rajya Sabha, Legislative Council, Assembly, and others for a period of three years.

Balaram Naik Porika contested the 2019 elections from the Mahabubabad Lok Sabha in Telangana and lost the elections. The constituency is an ST reserved constituency.

On the flipside, Balaram Naik maintained that he had submitted all the required documents concerning the election purpose. He said the papers would be submitted to the concerned officials soon.
