On the second anniversary of the Union government, BJP wants to showcase its achievements (if any) and is preparing a list of persons and ministries that have done a good job.Figuring in the list is Union Minister of Power, Piyush Goyal. Apparently, his ministry has achieved 100% of the targets set out for it. Naturally, Piyush Goyal is a happy man.
He gave an interview to a foreign journalist citing the development programmes undertaken by his ministry. Then the journalist asked a seemingly harmless question “Would you like to take over the finance portfolio?”To this Piyush gave a stock answer that also appeared harmless, “That is the prerogative of the PM and I am ready for any kind of responsibilities.”
Later, Piyush realized that his answer might seem as if he was aspiring for the post of Finance Minister or give such an idea to the powers that be. He immediately called up the journalist and requested the latter to edit the answer to that particular question.The journalist refused whereupon Piyush personally went to his house and finally managed to convince him. This whole episode was mentioned in a leading English daily.
