That sounds pretty idiotic, because AR Rahman is the one who’s entertaining with his mighty music powers. But a Mumbai based Sunni-Muslim group has actually issued a Fatwa against AR Rahman for committing blasphemy by working for a film that is being made on life of Prophet Muhammad.
An Iranian film maker named Majid Majidi is making a 3-film-project, the first film of trilogy being “Muhammad: Messenger Of God” for which AR Rahman has composed the music. Citing that Prophet himself ordered muslims to not either share his picture or draw it, a Mumbai based Raza Academy considers this act of Rahman and Majid as unholy and against Islam. They declared that the too have turned blasphemous for the religion. Also the Fatwa condemned casting of non-Muslims in some roles.
While A R Rahman remained unavailable for a comment, his fans are worried as to why religious outfits are not looking at a film as a film. The Fatwa also demanded Indian government to ban the film.
