February started on a disastrous note for Telugu Cinema. In fact, none of the films that released post Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo clicked until Bheeshma arrived on Feb 21.
Jaanu was expected to do well given the cult status of its original and having big names like Dil Raju, Samantha and Sharwanand associated to it.
Jaanu was rejected outright by all sections of audience that even Dil Raju had to give up too early. He never had a chance to push the film through promotions as Jaanu struggled from day 1 itself.
Remaking classics like 96 can go terribly wrong and Jaanu ended up as a big flop in spite of taking utmost care not to spoil the mood and feel of the original.
Vijay Deverakonda’s World Famous Lover never shown promise at any stage during its making and it has failed to meet the lowest of lowest expectations.
It ended up as a huge flop that the producer is under severe pressure to compensate the losses of its buyers. Vijay accepted the failure right after the movie is out and moved on to Puri’s film.
Two big disasters in two weeks have affected the film business a lot and then Bheeshma has put the smile back on film traders faces.
However, Bheeshma collections also dropped after first weekend because of exams seasons. But thanks to its terrific first weekend collections, Bheeshma broke even quickly despite average hold on week days.
Hit produced by Nani released during the last weekend of February and has taken a decent opening across A centers.
There would be a certain lull in the film trade until Nani’s V arrives on March 25. Meanwhile, a bunch of low budget films are going to try their luck at the ticket windows.
