Fidaa Stands Next To Ramulamma!!

Counting 30+ crore share and more, Dil Raju is laughing all the way to bank as his “Fidaa” is celebrating its moments at theatres. When in need of a desperate hit, both Sekhar Kammula and Varun Tej breathed a fresh layer of Oxygen after delivering some duds in the recent past.

This ‘brand’ Sekhar Kammula has a big speciality, however, not just debutant Sai Pallavi, but it is majorly the Telangana accent Telugu language she speaks in the movie. When was the last time you saw a Telangana accent in a film clicking so well all through the Telugu regions? Recent movies like Pellichoopulu have only urban Hyderabadi lingo being spoken, while films with full Telangana slang like Pittagoda have flopped. But Fidaa has done the unthinkable.

Way back in 1997, Dasari Narayana Rao carved out “Osey Ramulamma” which happens to be the story of a deprived lady who picks a gun and turns rebel. With Vijayashanti being the leading lady and the film totally set in Telangana Naxal war backdrop, it became a cult hit. Women in Andhra and Rayalaseema stormed to theatres to make it a blockbuster. And now, after 20 years, only “Fidaa” is witnessing such response.

What’s so surprising is that both the directors who made Telangana accent and lingo, along with the culture, click big time in a film hail from West Godavari district, a prominent region in Andhra. So they proved, films and the languages that will be speaking inside will have no boundaries and barriers. Once again, let’s remember, “Films are a universal medium”.
