First in India: Driverless Metro in Hyderabad

Hyderabad has entered the record books for being the first in India to run Metro train without a driver. Hyderabad Metro has achieved the great feat after successfully completing the test run with the help of Automatic Train Operation (ATO) and Communication Based Train Control system (CBTS).
This latest technology has been tested for the first time in India and Hyderabad became the proud owner of the record. Metro rail between Nagole and Mettuguda has successfully completed the test run without a driver.
The speed and route are controlled and brakes are applied accordingly to control the speed and all these are done automatically in spite of the presence of the driver. The driver’s work is limited to only control the opening and closing of the doors in the bogis.
