In his first appearance before the media after the 2019 poll debacle where TDP shrinked to 23 MLAs from its previous 117 MLAs in 2014, former minister and TDP’s national general secretary Nara Lokesh appeared strong, seemed confident and sounded dynamic. Lokesh has taken on his political arch rival and CM YS Jagan with witty punchlines. He has managed to garner attention through his speech. Besides his physical transformation where Lokesh shed a few kilos and slimmed down, his political transformation, his confident speech, maturity in his words reflected a major transformation that is shaping up Lokesh.
Stating that TDP wouldn’t fear for any, Lokesh said, “We had seen his Grand Father. We had seen his Father. We’re seeing Jagan Reddy.” He said several witty one-liners. “Violence is Jagan’s religion and revenge is his caste.”
Lokesh went onto attack Jagan stating that not a single company or industry has set up its investment in AP and gave a call, “Povali Jagan, Makoddu Jagan” (Jagan Must Go, We Don’t Want Jagan). He alleged that the Jagan administration has failed literally in every sense and challenged that he is willing to come anywhere for a debate on Jagan’s one-year-rule. Lokesh has also attacked the violence against women in Jagan’s rule. He said rapes have increased in Jagan’s government and said the Disha act doesn’t state these facts. Ridiculing Jagan, Lokesh said, “Kisses during Padayatra and blows after coming to power” (Padayatra Lo Muddulu, Power Loki Vachaka Guddulu).
Talking about Jagan’s brainchild initiative Amma Vodi program, Lokesh said, “That’s not Amma Vodi. It’s Ardha Vodi. Promised for 83 lakh people and delivered to only 43 lakh people.”
Lokesh also said how YCP leaders are shivering to his tweets against their government. He said what will be their reaction if he goes to the field after Covid-19. He also threw satires on increasing power bills. “One need not touch electricity wires to get shocked. One can get shocked by touching electricity bills in Jagan’s rule.” Lokesh said TDP would strongly retaliate to the threats, cases and physical attacks against TDP leaders, workers and supporters.
Interestingly, Lokesh threw satire on himself. “As I studied in English medium,I couldn’t speak Telugu well. I don’t want our children to suffer the same. Both Telugu medium and English medium should be available and let students make their own choice of medium of instruction.” Lokesh also admitted that he was fat. “They had laughed at my fat body. If I had mistakenly said a word or misspelt, they had laughed at me. The same way they are laughing at people and insulting them. They are troubling those who are posing questions to them.”
Meanwhile, Lokesh has answered all the questions that came his way. He infused confidence into his party leaders, party workers and supporters. On the whole, Lokesh stunned and shocked many with his latest transformation.
