First of its kind in India, Telangana uses IAF Aircrafts to airlift empty oxygen tankers!

The 29th state in India, Telangana, which is facing difficulties in meeting the oxygen demand for Covid-19 patients, has airlifted oxygen tankers from Hyderabad to Odisha with the help of the Indian Air Force (IAF) aircraft.

Coincidentally, Telangana became the first state in the country to airlift the oxygen tankers from Hyderabad to Odisha, to see that the oxygen is supplied to Hyderabad in less time.

The nearby oxygen plants for us are located in Odisha nearly 1200 km away from Hyderabad. In order to save time, the Telangana government opted to make use of IAF aircrafts. By this, the government can save 3 days of time in bringing oxygen to the capital city.

The Telangana government deployed nearly nine empty tankers from the capital city to Odisha on Friday. The tankers will be sent back to Hyderabad after filling liquid oxygen in them.

The C17 aircrafts of IAF left for Odisha with empty oxygen tankers from the Begumpet Airport. State Health Minister Eatala Rajender and Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar supervised the total episode on airlifting tankers.

TRS Working President, IT Minister KTR took to Microblogging Site Twitter to compliment the Health Minister and CS, who monitored the situation at the Begumpet Airport.

“My compliments to both Health Minister @Eatala_Rajender Garu & @TelanganaCS Somesh Kumar Garu who are supervising Oxygen tankers airlifting from Hyderabad to Orissa to bring back oxygen faster to Telangana – saving 3 days & many valuable lives. First time in India.#NeedOfTheHour,” KTR tweeted.
