Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2024 Announced After 14 Years

After a gap of 14 years, the Telangana government has brought back the prestigious Gaddar Telangana Film Awards 2024, named in honor of the revolutionary poet Gaddar. These awards celebrate the best in Telugu cinema for films released in 2024, recognizing outstanding achievements across feature films, performances, and technical crafts.

The winners were officially announced during a press meet on May 29, chaired by jury head Jayasudha. The event was attended by Telangana Film Development Corporation Chairman Dil Raju, jury member Jeevitha Rajasekhar, and other dignitaries. Jayasudha emphasized that the jury operated with complete independence and that winners were selected purely on merit without any external influence or bias.

The top honors in feature films went to Kalki 2898 AD as the First Best Feature Film, followed by Pottel and Lucky Bhasker as the Second and Third Best Feature Films respectively. Other notable mentions included Committee Kurrollu for promoting national integration and social uplift, 35 Chinna Katha Kadu as the Best Children’s Film, and Razakar for excellence in environment, heritage, and history themes. The Best Debut Feature Film award went to Yedu Vamsee for Committee Kurrollu, and Aay… Mem Friends Andi was recognized as the Best Wholesome Entertainment Film.

Individual awards were handed out to notable talents such as Nag Ashwin Singi Reddy for Best Director (Kalki 2898 AD), Allu Arjun for Best Leading Actor (Pushpa 2), and Nivetha Thomas for Best Leading Actress (35 Chinna Katha Kadu). S. J. Suryah and Saranya Pradeep won for Best Supporting Actor and Actress respectively. Bheems Ceciroleo was awarded Best Music Director for Razakar, while Sid Sriram and Shreya Ghoshal received the best male and female playback singer awards for their work in Ooru Peru Bhairavakona and Pushpa 2. The comedy category recognized Satya and Vennela Kishore for Mattu Vadalara 2, and child artists Arundev Pothula and Baby Harika were honored for their performances.

In writing and technical crafts, Siva Paladugu was awarded Best Story Writer for Music Shop Murthy, Venky Atluri won Best Screenplay Writer for Lucky Bhasker, and Chandra Bose was honored as Best Lyricist for Raju Yadav. Technical awards included Vishwanath Reddy for Best Cinematographer (Gaami), Navin Nooli for Best Editor (Lucky Bhasker), Aravind Menon for Best Audiographer (Gaami), and Ganesh Acharya as Best Choreographer for Devara – Ayudha Pooja Song. The Best Art Director award went to Andhintin Zihant Choudary for Kalki 2898 AD, while K. Chandra Shekar Rathod received Best Action Choreographer for Gangster. Makeup and costume awards were given to Nalla Sreenu (Razakar) and Archana Rao with Ajay Kumar (Kalki 2898 AD), respectively.

Special Jury Awards recognized Dulquer Salmaan (Lucky Bhasker), Ananya Nagalla (Pottel), directors Sujith and Sandeep (KA), and producers Prashanth Reddy and Rajesh Kallepally (Raju Yadav). A Jury Special Mention was given to Faria Abdullah for her rap song in Mattu Vadalara 2.

In addition, the Best Book on Telugu Cinema was awarded to Mana Cinema First Reel by Rentala Jayadeva.

The revival of the Gaddar Telangana Film Awards marks an important milestone for Telangana’s film industry, celebrating cinematic excellence and inspiring future filmmakers and artists.
