When asked what made Laapataa Ladies click with audiences, Pratibha said, “The film’s strength lies in its relatability and grounded portrayal of small-town life. It explores themes of women’s aspirations and the fight for their dreams, going beyond traditional domestic spaces. That reality is what truly connected with the audience.”

On choosing her roles, she explained, “Every project should have a meaningful story to tell. Before signing a film or a web show, I ask myself if it will challenge my abilities or help me grow as an actor. If it does, I embrace it wholeheartedly.”

When it comes to improving her craft, she added, “I aim to grow overall — stepping outside my comfort zone, working across different genres, and never settling into a predictable pattern. That’s the only way to truly do justice to the ‘actor’ in me.”

Asked what kinds of stories need to be told today, Pratibha remarked, “Audiences are more discerning now. They want honesty and freshness in what they see on screen. Filmmakers have the freedom to explore new territories, and people appreciate it when they sense authenticity.”

Pratibha also gave a sneak peek into her next venture: “I’m currently working on a new project directed by Anubhuti Kashyap, where I’ll be sharing screen space with Konkona Sen Sharma. I’m really excited about this one.”
