A prominent aspect of Tollywood is that no hero admits that his film is a flop. There can be many reasons for this such as pressure from fans, competition from other heroes, their own egos etc. But the new crop of heroes has no such inhibitions.
When NOTA failed at the box-office, Vijay Devarakonda admitted the same on Twitter and said he would work hard to give a better film to his fans.
Similarly, speaking about Antariksham, Varun Tej said it was not the kind of film that would work in B and C centres. He also said that had they invested another Rs 10 crore in the film, the output could have been even better.
Speaking about Padi Padi Leche Manasu, Sharwanand tweeted, “I had a lot of expectations from this film. But I respect the reviews and will keep working hard.”
Raj Tarun also had no embarrassment in owning up to the failure of Rangula Ratnam.
In admitting their failures, these heroes are proving that they are grounded and that is half the battle won as they can then retain their sense of judgement and improve on their choice of scripts.
A refreshing change indeed in the industry.
