Vishwak Sen’s CULT Teaser Draws Squid Game Comparisons
February 23, 2026

Exactly a week after the disappointing release of Funky, young and talented actor Vishwak Sen unveiled the teaser of his upcoming film CULT, seemingly aiming to shift focus from the setback.
The teaser projects a dark, violent action backdrop set largely inside a pub. Packed with intense visuals and bloodshed, CULT appears to rely heavily on raw aggression and stylized brutality to make an impact. Vishwak Sen has been vocal about the uniqueness of the project, building curiosity around the hashtag #CULT.
However, despite the effort, the teaser hasn’t fully impressed Gen Z viewers. Many feel the concept resembles the globally popular Netflix series Squid Game. The visuals of an animated character announcing a deadly game, followed by participants being eliminated, strongly remind audiences of the survival-game format that made Squid Game a sensation.
Interestingly, Vishwak Sen mentioned that the Hollywood party drama Project X served as partial inspiration. While Project X revolves around an out-of-control party with unexpected guests, CULT seems to blend that chaotic setting with a survival-game element, creating comparisons that are hard to ignore.
If the storyline turns out to be too close to already established global content, it may invite criticism rather than appreciation — especially from younger audiences who are quick to spot similarities. Ultimately, the film’s fate will depend on whether CULT offers a fresh narrative twist beyond what the teaser currently suggests.
