The land acquisition process for the upcoming Google Data Center in Vizag has progressed swiftly, marking a significant milestone for one of Andhra Pradesh’s most important digital infrastructure projects. With compensation officially reaching farmers today, authorities confirm that groundwork for the foundation stone ceremony is nearly complete.
Spread across 588 acres, the state-of-the-art data center represents a major investment in the region’s growing technology ecosystem. The required land has been consolidated from three key locations: 308 acres in Tharluwada, 120 acres in Adavivaram, and 160 acres in Rambilli. District officials revealed that continued consultations with local communities have helped streamline the process, and the disbursal of compensation indicates that acquisition is now in its final phase.
For many farmers, the swift progress has come as a relief, particularly after waiting for clarity on compensation rates and timelines. Revenue authorities noted that landowners have shown strong cooperation, recognizing the long-term economic advantages this landmark project is expected to generate.
The Andhra Pradesh government has positioned the Google Data Center as a major catalyst for future development. Once operational, it is expected to enhance digital services, strengthen connectivity, and create substantial direct and indirect employment opportunities in and around Vizag. Large-scale data centers also tend to spur allied industries—from construction and logistics to maintenance—ensuring economic benefits extend well beyond the project site.
With procedural barriers nearly resolved, attention now turns to the upcoming foundation-laying ceremony. As the project gathers momentum, both residents and officials remain optimistic that this pace will continue through the next stages of development.
