The world’s largest tech-firms Google, Microsoft and Apple have decided to protect their employees from the latest move by United States President Donald Trump. It is known that Trump scrapping the amnesty programme is drawing extensive criticism from those who immigrants who illegally arrived in US when they were children.
The DACA (Deferred Action for Children Arrival) program that was initiated by former President Barack Obama was called off by Trump and it is likely to impact more than 8 lakh undocumented employees and that include 7,000 Indian-Americans as well. In this matter, global giants like Google, Microsoft and Apple have planned to stand by their employees and Google CEO Sundar Pichai also opposed the latest stand by President Donald Trump.
Pichai also tweeted, ‘Dreamers are our neighbors, our friends and our co-workers. This is their home. Congress needs to act now to #DefendDACA. #WithDreamers’ while Apple CEO Tim Cook too condemned Trump’s move and asked him to call back the decision. On that note, companies have come a step ahead to offer essential support from immigrational experts
Microsoft boss Satya Nadella said, ‘Dreamers make our country & communities stronger. We stand for diversity and economic opportunity for everyone.’ and Cook tweeted, ‘250 of my Apple coworkers are #Dreamers. I stand with them. They deserve our respect as equals and a solution rooted in American values. #Dreamers contribute to our companies and our communities just as much as you and I. Apple will fight for them to be treated as equals.’
Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg also pronounced his support to the dreamers and gave a call to Congress to gather consensus in this regard.
