From Zanjeer to Rajamouli: Priyanka Chopra’s Full-Circle Telugu Journey
Priyanka Chopra Jonas first stepped into Telugu cinema in 2013 with Zanjeer, starring Ram Charan. More than a decade later, she is set to return in a far grander avatar with Varanasi, a high-profile collaboration with superstar Mahesh Babu and master filmmaker SS Rajamouli, slated for a 2026 release. True to her global star status, Priyanka has already begun promoting the film, keeping fans buzzing with every appearance and update.
However, Priyanka’s influence extends well beyond acting. Since launching her production banner, Purple Pebble Pictures, in 2016, she has steadily built a reputation for backing content-driven cinema across languages and formats. The company has produced films, television projects, and advertisements, often spotlighting fresh talent and unconventional narratives. In 2025, she is co-producing English-language films The Bluff and Anuja, while her Hindi productions include acclaimed titles like The Sky Is Pink, known for its emotional depth and sincerity.
Reflecting on her journey during a recent interaction, Priyanka spoke candidly about the early years of her career. “When I started, I had no understanding of which films to choose. I said yes to everything because at 20, all I wanted was to work,” she shared. “I missed birthdays and precious time with my father during his last days. Twenty years of relentless hard work brought me here.”
Opening up about balancing her dual roles, she added, “Wearing two hats isn’t easy. Sometimes it feels like my brain is split in two. As an actress, I challenge myself with action, comedy, and drama. As a producer, my focus is on new directors and stories that truly move people. I want to give opportunities to voices that might otherwise go unheard.”
With Varanasi on the horizon and Purple Pebble Pictures continuing to champion meaningful storytelling, Priyanka Chopra Jonas is proving that her power in cinema is just as formidable behind the camera as it is on screen—across Hollywood, Bollywood, and Telugu cinema alike.
