Government Blocks 32 Websites In India

Prime Minster Narendra Modi and his government in a new found resolve acted touch on anti India websites. The Union Govt on new year cracked whip on anti India websites and blocked at least 32 websites on recommendations of Anti-Terrorism Squad. The websites were found to be using social media to attract Indian youth for jihadi activities. 
Sites that are blocked include weebly.com, vimeo.com, dailymotion.com and gist.github.com. Ministry of Communication and Information Technology issues a statement regarding govt directive. Only six websites replied to the showcause notice of the government. 
Department of Telecom informed that according to Section 69 of the Information Technology Act, 2000, and under Information Technology (Procedure and Safeguards for Blocking for Access of Information by Public) Rules, 2009, Union Government decided to block 32 URLs.
