Actress Hansika Motwani, known for her performances in Telugu films such as Desamuduru and Kantri, has filed a ₹2 crore defamation case against her sister-in-law Nancy James in a Mumbai Sessions Court. The legal action comes amid an ongoing family dispute, with the actress alleging serious damage to her reputation.
According to reports, the case is based on claims that Nancy James made defamatory remarks about Hansika on social media. The actress has stated that these allegations are false, misleading, and intended to harm her public image.
The dispute also reportedly involves a financial issue. Hansika claims that Nancy had borrowed ₹27 lakh during her marriage to Hansika’s brother, Prashant Motwani, and has not repaid the amount despite multiple requests. She further alleges that the defamatory statements were made to avoid repayment and to pressure her financially.
Hansika has strongly denied all allegations of domestic violence made against her, calling them baseless and malicious. She maintains that the accusations are part of a deliberate attempt to tarnish her image and has accused Nancy James of trying to extort money through a targeted defamation campaign.
The controversy gained attention after Nancy James’ social media posts went viral, sparking widespread discussion online. With the matter now in court, further proceedings are awaited as both sides prepare to present their arguments.
