Has the YSRCP erred in deciding to set up the Krishna River Board office in Vizag? It appears so. There is a rising tide of anger and shock at the setting up of the office in Vizag, which is not even remotely connected to the Krishna river. The TDP is now trying to use this issue to attack the YSRCP.
There is already a general feeling of neglect in the Rayalaseema region and setting up of the office in Vizag will only add to the sense of alienation in that region. This might even lead to political and electoral loss for the YSRCP in the coming 2024 elections. Already TDP general secretary Nara Lokesh has begun the homework on this issue.
He met leaders of the student community from Rayalaseema at his residence in Hyderabad on Thursday. He has discussed various problems plaguing the region. Issues like lack of jobs, migration of youths and cleansing of the universities in the region have been discussed in great detail, according to sources. Lokesh is said to have told them about what the TDP government did for the Rayalaseema region.
Clearly, Lokesh appears to have launched Operation Rayalaseema to retrieve the lost ground in the region. He appears to be preparing an action plan to bring intellectuals, activists and educationists of the region on platform and oppose the ruling YSRCP. He is also planning to launch his proposed padayatra from the Rayalaseema region. Clearly, warning bells are ringing for the YSRCP. Is it hearing them?
