When it comes to stars Superstar Mahesh Babu is without any doubt the biggest Telugu star in US (Overseas) but what about the director? We often forget to credit the man behind the achievements of heroes so now we look at who actually is the number one director in this all important territory.
When we speak of US (Overseas) two names come to our mind immediately, the first one is Trivikram Srinivas and the other is Srinu Vytla. The latter with three back to back Million dollar films (Dookudu, Baadhshah and Aagadu) is without any doubt a strong force but here’s why Trivikram still outdoes him.
First of all long before even Mahesh Babu was a star in US Trivikram Srinivas was a household name with films like Nuvve Kavali, Nuvvu Naku Nachav and Manmadhudu. It was his films along with those of the two initial stars Megastar and Powerstar whose films used to do good business. It was with Trivikram Srinivas’s Athadu that the current numero uno Mahesh Babu started his successful US journey. The film was the highest grosser upon its release.
The next film from the director Jalsa saw him join hands with Pawan Kalyan. The star’s box office fortunes were revived again with this film. Jalsa was also the first film of its time which broke the reviews shackles and talk aspect as it went on to become the biggest grosser with an average talk. Their second outing together Atharintiki Daredi is the current highest grossing film. When the director joined hands with Superstar again for Khaleja, the film went on to become a hit in US and we all know its fate locally.
Allu Arjun despite many successful films locally failed to attract the audience in US. He tried everything but failed. Ultimately it was Trivikram Srinivas’s Julayi that made him acceptable. And now with their latest release the fortunes of Bunny have raised to such a level that the film Son of Satyamurthy despite being panned critically and having mixed talk has crossed the Million mark.
It is these achievements that sets apart Trivikram Srinivas from other directors and makes him number one in US (Overseas). Don’t you all agree with it?
