“How fair is it to take the lives of 20 laborers especially when they’re not carrying any guns?” questioned YS Jagan on twitter, referring to the Tirupati encounter of red sandalwood smugglers.
Mr. Jagan, in 2013, two forest officials Sridhar and David were lynched to death and their bodies left hanging by these same daily wage laborers otherwise known as red sanders smugglers from Tamil Nadu.
“How fair is it to take the lives of Sridhar and David especially when they’re not carrying any guns?”
And how come there were no protests in AP then against Tamilians or burning of any effigies of Jayalalitha?
This is a great opportunity to score some political points undoubtedly, but one should also realize that one needs to support the AP government against a raging Tamil Nadu.
Which government would take such a huge risk of stopping people travelling in a bus, taking them away and then shooting them dead as being claimed by the families of the victims? No sensible government would do that. In an encounter, everything happens more or less on the basis of instinct despite professional training.
Attacked with deadly stones by the laborers, the police might have instinctively responded with fire resulting in the casualties.
We can’t know for certain. Why is Jagan asking this question of Naidu and not questioning KCR over the Viqaruddin encounter? Even Viqaruddin was unarmed when he was killed?
