In a tragic turn of events, a private bus traveling from Hyderabad to Bengaluru caught fire earlier today, claiming the lives of 20 passengers. The horrific incident has left the entire region in shock and mourning.

Following the accident, officials have launched a detailed investigation and uncovered some alarming facts. The ill-fated vehicle had a troubling record — it was a frequent traffic violator with 16 challans registered in Telangana alone, amounting to ₹23,000 in unpaid fines.

Authorities revealed that the bus had multiple violations for over-speeding, wrong route entries, and permit breaches. There were also prior complaints of rash and dangerous driving, raising serious concerns about negligence on the operator’s part.

Taking the matter seriously, the Telangana Transport Department has ordered a comprehensive inquiry into the lapses that led to this disaster and promised strict action against those responsible.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has expressed deep condolences to the victims’ families. The PMO also announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh each to the families of the deceased and ₹50,000 to those injured in the incident.

This heartbreaking tragedy has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety norms and accountability in private transport operations.
