The protests against the Telangana CM KCR’s decision to demolish the century old historic Osmania General Hospital have been intensified. Joining the angry Hyderabadis in their #SaveOGH fight, are film stars and art and heritage connoisseurs, who have been showing their strong dissent over the government’s decision to renovate the hospital by demolishing the decapitated blocks.
Bollywood beauties with Hyderabadi roots, Dia Mirza and Aditi Rao Hydari, have been voicing against KCR’s plans to raze down the heritage building. Expressing her support, Aditi Rao tweeted, “We really need to stop this..” She then tagged Dia Mirza and Sania Mirza asking them, “can we do something? #SaveOGH”.
Dia responded to Aditi’s concerns and said, ” Why why would be we ever want to destroy our heritage? Such an iconic monument must be restored and cherished.” Today, reacting to Telangana Deputy CM’s comments that we should be ready to even destroy Charminar if needed, Dia continued her support and said, “NO NO NO these can’t possibly be the thoughts of the state!!! Can someone please stop this?”
The Osmania General Hospital was built in 1908 on the backs of Music River by the favors architect Vincent Jerome Esch at a cost of Rs. 20 lakhs in those days.
