Mahavatar Narasimha Continues Box Office Domination
Despite the arrival of two new pan-India films, the notion that Mahavatar Narasimha, now completing twenty days in theaters, would quietly fade away has been completely disproven. Riding the momentum of the long weekend, this animated spectacle is roaring back with renewed strength.
Negative chatter around War 2 and the mixed reviews for Coolie have given Mahavatar Narasimha a golden opportunity to reclaim the spotlight. In Andhra Pradesh, the higher ticket prices for films starring Tarak and Rajinikanth are inadvertently benefiting this animated blockbuster. Meanwhile, in Telangana, although the number of screens has slightly reduced, the remaining shows are drawing full houses and selling out well in advance.
On BookMyShow alone, the movie continues to sell an impressive 10,000 to 15,000 tickets per hour, reflecting the massive audience still eager to watch it. Having already crossed a ₹200 crore gross, Mahavatar Narasimha looks poised to easily add another ₹100 crore to its tally. Family audiences are increasingly choosing this film over War 2 and Coolie, reshaping the current box office landscape.
Trade reports suggest that, in several centers, the number of shows for Mahavatar Narasimha is actually increasing on weekends. Exhibitors are even reducing shows for new releases to accommodate the demand, a rare phenomenon in recent times. If the film continues this trajectory, there seems little to stop it from dominating screens through the end of the month.
Adding to this advantage is the absence of major releases in the coming weeks and rumors that Ravi Teja’s Mass Jathara, originally slated for August 27, might be postponed—further extending Mahavatar Narasimha’s box office reign. The response has been so overwhelming that one production house, which had plans for a star-driven fantasy film, is now reportedly considering a fully animated project instead. Such is the scale of Mahavatar Narasimha’s domination, and there are no signs of it slowing down anytime soon.
