I Face Caste Discrimination In My Village: Nawazuddin Siddiqui


We are in the 21st century now. Caste discrimination is still prevalent in several parts of the country and film stars are not an exemption from this. Yes, you read it right.Celebrated actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui in his recent interview, opened up on the discrimination he faces in his native village because of his caste.

Forget about caste discrimination in his native village. According to him, his family has not accepted them because of his grandmother’s caste. His grandmother was from a lower caste.Talking further, he said his popularity and him being famous do not matter to them. It’s deeply entrenched within them and they consider it as their pride. It is very difficult.

His shocking revelations came when the Hathras incident has resulted in a nationwide outrage over the heinous incident. A young Dalit woman was allegedly assaulted by upper cast men. She suffered injuries during the assault and succumbed to it.Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who hails from Uttar Pradesh, has been living in his native village, ever since a nationwide lockdown was imposed with the Covid-19 outbreak.
