‘I survived for people’, says Konda Murali at trailer launch

It is known that maverick director Ram Gopal Varma is currently working on the biopic of the Konda couple. Titled ‘Konda’, the film is based on the life of Konda Murali, husband of Congress leader and former minister Konda Surekha.

The trailer of Konda was launched on Wednesday. It shows Konda Murali falling in love with Surekha from college life, joining hands with Maoists and getting into politics. ‘Killing him is not my job, it is my responsibility,’ said a dialogue by the Konda Murali character at the end of the trailer.

Speaking about the film, Konda Murali said, “On January 26, 47 bullets were fired at me. But I survived, not for my family, but it’s for the people.”

Konda Surekha said, “I remember how much we suffered when we saw the trailer. It was emotional. I will never forget the firing incident. When I reached the spot, Murali was lying in a pool of blood and people around him could not see where he was.”

Ram Gopal Varma said, “The Konda couple are revolutionaries. I am not like them. I do not dare to be a revolutionary. My feeling is that Thrigun is an excellent actor. But, he did romantic movies. I have always believed that he would do well if he did intense roles. He did well in the role of Murali.”

Produced by Malla Reddy and Naveen Reddy, the film stars Thrigun and Irra Mor in lead roles.
