Ilaiyaraaja’s Nostalgic Post Sparks Vijay Political Buzz

In an intriguing mix of cinema nostalgia and political signaling, legendary composer Ilaiyaraaja has stirred social media conversation by sharing an old film song featuring actor-turned-politician Vijay. The move is being widely seen as a subtle gesture of support ahead of the Tamil Nadu election results.

The track comes from the 1988 film Ithu Engal Neethi, directed by Vijay’s father S. A. Chandrasekhar, with music composed by Ilaiyaraaja himself. The film featured a young Vijay in one of his earliest appearances as a child artist.

What has particularly caught public attention is a line from the song, “Chinna Thambi, Unnai Nambi…,” loosely translating to “The state waits for you, little brother.” The timing and context of Ilaiyaraaja sharing this track have sparked widespread interpretations online.

Supporters view it as a symbolic message, suggesting that Tamil Nadu is now looking toward Vijay as a potential leader. Adding to the political undertone is Ilaiyaraaja’s own position, having been nominated to the Rajya Sabha in 2022, which further amplifies the significance of his gesture in the current political climate.
