We shouldn’t call India as male-dominated society since women are giving tough fight to men in all the sectors, especially in IT industry. A recent survey called ‘Salary Survey 2015’ by IIM-jobs, an online recruitment platform for management positions in the country, revealed shocking facts regarding annual earning of men and women in different sectors.
‘Women earn at par or more than their male counterparts, when it comes to initial salaries. However, as the experience increases that is more than 4 years, men start earning more than women,’ according to the survey.
In Delhi, women earn (Rs 9.8 LPA) more than males (Rs 9.5 LPA) with experience between 0-3 years. Hyderabad is another city where women earn more (Rs 9.7 LPA) than their male counterparts (Rs 9.4 LPA) with experience between 0-3 years, which becomes equal at Rs 17.7 LPA when the experience increases to 7-10 years. In Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore both genders begin with equal salary, the report added.
Coming to ITES-BPO and Customer Service section, the pay gap is huge with men earning 45.5 per cent more than women with over 15 years of experience in Bangalore.
In Delhi too there is disparity as women earn Rs 17.6 LPA with experience of 11-15 years, while men get Rs 38.6 LPA with similar work experience.
Both the genders earn almost in similar range in starting salary, in the banking and finance sector, in Hyderabad. However, in Chennai the initial salary of women is more than men in the sector.
