Telugu director S. S. Rajamouli is widely regarded as one of the most celebrated filmmakers in Indian cinema today. However, in the early phase of his career, he was known for making mainstream commercial entertainers. His journey took a major turn with Magadheera, a film that showcased a completely new level of vision and scale. Its grand visuals and strong emotional core impressed both audiences and the industry.

Following that, Rajamouli continued to raise the bar with films like Eega, Baahubali: The Beginning, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, and RRR. These projects established his reputation for creating large-scale cinematic worlds backed by stunning visual effects and compelling storytelling.

Rajamouli is also known for his uncompromising approach to quality, which often results in extended production timelines. Delays in shooting schedules and release dates have almost become synonymous with his films, something both his team and fans have grown accustomed to over the years.

However, his upcoming film Varanasi appears to be breaking that pattern. Contrary to expectations, the production is progressing smoothly and on schedule, surprising many within the team.

Recently, a crucial schedule was completed in a specially erected set in Hyderabad, where key scenes were shot over nearly a month. The team is now gearing up to film a song in another set. Reports suggest that close to 70 percent of the shoot has already been completed, while visual effects work is being carried out simultaneously.

The makers are aiming to wrap up the entire shoot by August. Post-production is expected to take around six to seven months, during which promotional activities will also be rolled out. If everything continues as planned, the film is likely to hit screens on April 7.

For a team that is used to delays, the smooth and timely progress of Varanasi has come as a pleasant surprise.
