New Delhi, May 10, 2025 – In light of the escalating border tensions between India and Pakistan, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) held a media briefing today to provide updates on the ongoing situation. The briefing was addressed by Colonel Sofia Qureshi, representing the Indian Army, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

Colonel Qureshi revealed that the Pakistan Army has been observed mobilizing its troops towards forward areas along the border, indicating potential offensive intentions. She emphasized that the Indian Armed Forces remain in a high state of operational readiness and are fully prepared to respond to any hostile actions. “All hostile acts have been proportionately countered and neutralized effectively,” she stated.

The situation further deteriorated earlier this morning when the town of Rajouri came under shelling by Pakistani forces. The attack resulted in the tragic death of Additional District Development Commissioner Raj Kumar Thapa and added to the mounting civilian casualties and infrastructural damage in the region.

Additionally, Pakistan’s military has been reportedly conducting aggressive operations along the western border, employing drones, long-range artillery, loitering munitions, and fighter jets targeting Indian military installations.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed the continued spread of misinformation by Pakistan regarding the conflict. He urged the public to remain vigilant against false narratives and rely solely on official government channels for accurate and verified information.

The MEA reaffirmed India’s commitment to national security and its preparedness to safeguard its territorial integrity under all circumstances.
