India Post Suspends Most Mail Services to the U.S. from August 25

The Department of Posts has announced that, effective August 25, 2025, booking and transmission of all categories of mail items to the United States will be temporarily suspended, with the exception of documents/letters and gift items valued up to USD 100.

This decision comes in response to new regulations introduced by the U.S. Administration under an Executive Order, set to take effect on August 29, 2025. U.S.-bound carriers have indicated they are unable to transport postal shipments without a clear mechanism for duty collection and data exchange, as required by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The Department of Posts is closely monitoring the situation and is actively working to restore full services at the earliest opportunity. Customers who have already booked items that cannot be dispatched will be eligible for postage refunds.
