Despite the series falling down completely in its last season, ‘Game Of Thrones’ is still considered as one of the best TV series ever made. The drama, grandeur, performances, writing, direction, everything was inch perfect. The fantasy drama genre which involves multiple fictional kingdoms is being explored by many but ‘Game Of Thrones’ is far beyond everyone’s reach. The euphoria it created a few years back was inexplicable. HBO network which came up with this game-changing series has hit the bull’s eye once again with its prequel ‘House Of The Dragon’.
The gritty drama show began 8 weeks back and it is getting more gripping and interesting every week. Eight episodes have been released till date and all of them got a tremendous response. The critics and the audience are claiming that the series is as good as ‘Game Of Thrones’ if not better. The eighth episode which was aired on Sunday was an emotionally driven one with King Viserys rescuing his daughter Rhaenyra in the court despite being severely ill. His health completely deteriorates but he managed to pull himself up for one last time to save his daughter and tries to keep the family together before finally giving up.
It was high on emotions and what’s even more interesting is the fact that this episode is directed by an Indian-origin filmmaker named Geeta Vasant Patel. Seeing her name in the titles surprised everyone in India as they never thought that an Indian would direct such a popular series that has fans all over the globe.
Prior to directing this episode of ‘House Of The Dragon’, she made films like ‘Project Kashmir’ and ‘Meet The Patels’ which got her an Emmy nomination. She was also a part of the team who made the famous ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise. It is always great to see a woman that too an Indian showing her talent on the international arena.
