Indian Grand Master Defeats World Champion In Pro Chess League!

Cricket is a popular sport in India and the popularity of the sport is such that even the national sport Hockey also cannot give a fight. But things are changing gradually and people are looking at other sports too. Football and Kabaddi are seeing a big rise in popularity.

Chess is also seeing popularity nowadays. Young players in India are giving big blows to big players. Giving another big example of this, a young Indian Grand Master stunned Norwegian chess wizard Magnus Carlsen, in a Pro Chess League online match. Using the mistake of Carlsen, the Indian grandmaster used it for his benefit.

As part of the Pro Chess League online match, Indian Yogis and Canada Chessbrahs locked horns. Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi led the Indian team and defeated the celebrated player. In a close match, the grandmaster emerged victorious and joined the elite list.

Earlier, Indian Grand Masters Praggnanandhaa, D Gukesh, and Arjun Erigaisi had the rare record of defeating Carlsen. Now Gujrathi joined the list. The World Champion made a small mistake and the Indian Grand Master made the best of it.

Talking about the team led by Gujrathi, it comprises others like Vaishali, Raunak, and Aronyak. On the other hand, the opponent team had the likes of Aryan Tari, Razvan Preotu, and Jennifer Yu, including Carlsen. The match reached the last round and Gujrathi won the match.

Grandmaster Vidit Gujrathi said that he is feeling very proud that he had defeated the World Champion. Giving his take on the match, he said that Magnus Carlsen made a few mistakes in the match but he could not bank on this and he managed to take advantage of it finally.
